What We Do

At LIFESAVER we focus on systems that deliver clean drinking water as defined by the standards of the National Sanitation Foundation and the Environmental Protection Agency.

LIFESAVER products are high performance water filters based on ultra filtration technology. This lets them quickly and thoroughly purify contaminated water to an adapted version of NSF Protocol 231, based on recommendations made by the EPA. LIFESAVER filters are effective against all classes of water-borne disease organisms – parasites, bacteria, viruses and cysts. Minimum removal standards are Log 3 (99.9%) for cysts, Log 4 (99.99%) for viruses and Log 6 (99.9999%) for bacteria. With this level of removal there’s no need for chemical purification, which gives water an unpleasant taste.

How Does It Work

LIFESAVER filtration products use air pressure to force water through the filter. The storage tank is a sealed unit which can be pressurised with a built-in hand pump, and this expels water through the cartridge and out the exit nozzle. Contamination is left behind in the filter – and because water is purified only when it’s needed there’s no chance of it being contaminated again.

How does LIFESAVER work?

LIFESAVER® products are sealed units that are pressurised with a hand pump. This pressure forces water through the pores of the filter and out through the exit nozzle leaving microbiological contamination behind.

Specifications

LIFESAVER's experimental set up and challenge of Lifesaver products is designed to evaluate the filters contaminant removal efficacy. Testing is based on a suitable adaption of NSF/ANSI P231. These units are tested with two different types of water to challenge the filtration capability beyond the standard use. All figures quoted are taken from the stressed challenge phase of the test imitating sewage contaminated water. This stressed test is designed to mimic the unsavoury water that users may have to drink in remote environments with un-developed sewage and waste infrastructure. Users need to know if their water filter still performs using high PH, low temperature turbid water.
